Concrete has been poured....pictures from the wekend of 7/23/10

We have a cat now...Max....

And quite a few frogs...

Campsite is holding up...

And I got chance to take a picture of Pete and Matt's bathroom....
But most importantly, we now have footers and piers poured and drying. We will wait 7 days before we can drill into them to attach the bolts/joinery that will connect to the wood for the cabin.

We have a few pine trees on the property...that we have uncovered and spared during the clearing process.

Our neighbor, Walter, is selling his A Frame just up the street from us should anyone want to be our cabin neighbor....
And we went home the long way ( 522 south) which means we get to stop at Timber rdge Grocery for the really good barbecue....

Ready to pour concrete....

Everything is in for tomorrow.
30% chance of rain is the only remaining issue.

Cabin Site, Footers for Cabin

This is shot from the end of our driveway, before the cabin site. The eventual house site will be directly to the left of the truck. The cabin is more in the area where the picture is being taken.

Pete and Matt have worked so hard to get to this point - it's difficult to believe what goes into this process when you do it yourself. We have the cabin site selected, the excavator dug 12 holes and we have prepped and measured them for concrete footers to be poured. At the same time, we will pour 12 piers, each coming up out of the footers, and those will support our cabin.

Water, Well Drilling

Somewhere admist all the rocks on our property

There is enough water to capture some using bamboo....

But for a well that gave us 4 gallons a minute, we dug 625 feet....

Driveway, Excavation, 100+ dumptruck loads of dirt....

The View

View of the river starting to open up on our land...as seen from the future cabin site.....

View next door on cleared land in the fall...two glimpses of the snaking Potomac River

From our property.....after some trees are down....

View from next door in springtime....straight on from the deck

From the cabin site, through the trees on our property.....

Clearing....
