Rainy Week of August 9th

We are slowly amassing a lifetime supply of firewood...1 downed tree at a time....

And our labor force has been inventive with regard to working during bad weather....

3rd support is in...so the floor joists can be laid between the supports....

Lots of hard rain this week.....

Building cabins is tiring....

Weekend of August 7th

Family Site Visit...best lunch break since the project began.

We are practicing very strict OSHA approved safety standards...

Almost ready for floor joists.

August 6th - Wood!

Finally moving from concrete to wood.....

Which means carrying a lot of wood...

And the final days of having piers to cook lunch on....

But it means we are moving towards having a floor....

And working lots of days until the sun sets

And hoping for dry weather.

Lessons Learned #1

If you order concrete for delivery, you should calculate the exact amount you need. You should know that if you order extra because you are second guessing your calculations, but then your calculations were dead on, you'll have to keep that extra. Delivery trucks dont really take it back, instead they ask you where you'd like it dumped and give you about 13 seconds to decide where. So then, one should be prepared to put that concrete somewhere, for example, in culverts to direct water, or maybe where the driveway is cracked really badly.

Weekend of 7/31

We have a cat now...Max....



And quite a few frogs...

Campsite is holding up...

And I got chance to take a picture of Pete and Matt's bathroom....
But most importantly, we now have footers and piers poured and drying. We will wait 7 days before we can drill into them to attach the bolts/joinery that will connect to the wood for the cabin.




We have a few pine trees on the property...that we have uncovered and spared during the clearing process.


Our neighbor, Walter, is selling his A Frame just up the street from us should anyone want to be our cabin neighbor....
And we went home the long way ( 522 south) which means we get to stop at Timber rdge Grocery for the really good barbecue....
